Guns are kind of the main thing that video game characters hold in their hands, so in our line of work we see a lot of them. But they almost never stick out as much as the Service Weapon in Control, a transforming pistol rooted in the narrative that never leaves your side.

In the video above, lead designer Paul Ehreth and narrative director Brooke Maggs join us to explain the gun’s forms, hint at its mysterious origins, and show off exclusive gameplay of the weapon in action.

The original Crackdown swung onto store shelves in 2007 and immediately surprised me with its unique aesthetic, engaging power growth, and ahead-of-its-time nonlinear story progression. Imran recently got to play a few hours of the upcoming sequel, and came away with the impression that it’s keeping all those key features to the point of having a nostalgic feel.

Hanson joined me to peruse the footage and get a better idea of the game, which has been in development for five years at this point. Everything we saw looked like an updated version of the original Crackdown, and all that remains to be seen is if that’s still engaging all these years later. Enjoy the video up above for a look at the campaign, multiplayer, and an early boss fight!

It’s hard to believe, but Kingdom Hearts III is actually coming out. Ahead of release on January 29th, we streamed the first two hours of the game, skipping cutscenes for embargo reasons and to avoid spoilers.

Hitman’s time-limited content has been controversial since the 2016 release. While many rightfully wish that the game kept its holiday content and elusive targets endlessly replayable as to not waste the man-hours spent making them, I think that everyone on earth should be playing Hitman every few weeks anyway. Then we wouldn’t have this problem of missing out on content.

Today I walk through the latest mission, which disappears February 12th. There are seven challenges to unlock, which provide a unique suit and melee weapon to keep if you get it in time. The mission is available (along with the main Hokkaido mission, Situs Inversus) to everyone for free starting tomorrow, and ending February 12th. Since those players will be missing key unlocks, I made this guide with the promise of not requiring any gear to complete.

Reeves, Javy and I recently got to take a trip to Stockholm, Sweden for our month of Rage 2 coverage. We were lucky enough to have some extra time to take in the city, which was overflowing with culture and history and overcast enough for it to feel like home.

Reeves and I decided to stop into Hey STHLM, a pool bar that features a Japanese arcade. We headed to the back and played most of the games we could, including an arcade version of Silent Hill, a Mario Kart game with Blinky from Pac-Man in it, and the piano-playing impression game Nostalgia.
