Final Fantasy XV lives on in a different way

What you need to know

A Final Fantasy XV MMORPG is now in development.
The game is set to release in China first and will come to other countries at a later date.
The plot of the MMORPG takes place at the same time as the main story in Final Fantasy XV.

A Final Fantasy XV MMORPG is now in development. According to Daniel Ahmad, Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, it’s being developed with Unreal Engine 4 by Korean studio JSC Games and Chinese developer GAEA Mobile. The game will release in China first, then make its way to other countries at a later date.

The story of the game is set in a world parallel to the main plot of Final Fantasy XV. There will be new regions to explore and will expand the lore of the Final Fantasy XV universe at large. Ragnarok Game LLC has the source code for Rune II again.

What you need to know

Ragnarok Game LLC sued Human Head Studios over breach of contract last year.
Ragnarok also demanded the source code for Rune II.
The source code for the game is back with Ragnarok.
The legal issues with Human Head Studios remain unsolved.

Back in December 2019, Ragnarok Game LLC filed a lawsuit against Human Head Studios (now Roundhouse Studios) for breach of contract and fraudulent concealment. Human Head Studios developed Rune II, which is published by Ragnarok Game LLC. In November 2019, the day after Rune II released, Human Head Studios went defunct and the entire team was acquired by ZeniMax, renamed Roundhouse Studios and became part of the Bethesda Softworks family of studios.

Today, Ragnarok posted on the forums for Rune II that the company has received a hard drive with the assets and source code for Rune II. Engineers on the team are currently verifying that all of the files are included. … 閱讀全文 →

2019 brought a very interesting year for the PlayStation brand. More patents are showing up.

What you need to know

A new patent filed by Sony shows some sort of revised controller.
The patent images also show two back buttons or paddles on the controller.
The design in these images seemingly contradicts another patent that had previously shown up.

As we wait for more official next-generation information, new patents keep showing glimpses of what could be coming in the future. Today, a new patent surfaced that was filed on December 26 by Sony. You can take a look at the patent design below.

This patent is also similar in idea to a recent attachment that was announced by Sony for the DualShock 4. The Back Button Attachment adds two new buttons which can be programmed through an OLED screen. The placement of the buttons is different though. It’s also worth noting that the charging port is for a USB mini cable, while the PlayStation 5 controller is already confirmed to use USB-C charging.

What you need to know

Ghost of Tsushima is set to be available in Summer 2020.
Sucker Punch, the developers of the game, have released a new free dynamic PlayStation 4 theme.
The theme is available until January 31, 2020.

Ghost of Tsushima isn’t here yet but Sucker Punch is spreading some holiday cheer with a new free dynamic theme for fans. The theme pulls from the latest trailer for the game. You can see the code for the free theme in the tweet below. Make sure you choose the correct code for your region, since PlayStation codes are region-specific. An agreement was reached today, with both parties cooperating moving forward.
The agreement also granted CD Projekt new rights to The Witcher.

CD Projekt (the parent company of CD Projekt Red) had recently been in a legal disagreement with Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of The Witcher novels. When Sapkowski originally sold the rights for The Witcher to be developed into a game series, it was in the form of a lump sum payment, instead of CD Projekt’s initial offer of a percentage of the overall profit.

After the rousing success the games have seen, Sapkowski’s lawyers argued that the initial deal was unlawful and that additional reparations of roughly $16 million USD were needed. The reins on Rainbow Six Siege are being passed on.

What you need to know

Rainbow Six Siege first released in December 2015.
Since then, the game has received innumerable updates, additional characters, maps and more.
Ubisoft announced today that some core members of the team are leaving, while others will begin to take their place.

Rainbow Six Siege is going through a big change in regards to its Core Team. Creative Director Xavier Marquis, Brand Director Alexandre Remy and a few others are leaving the team at Ubisoft Montréal that works on Rainbow Six Siege and will be “pursuing other interests within Ubisoft,” while a new group of veterans are coming in to assist the Core Team. Red Dead Redemption 2 has a new update on PlayStation 4.
This update adds several new bits of story content that were previously only in the PC version of the game.
It also adds photo mode, allowing players to take special shots.

Rockstar has released a new update for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 4. This update adds several story mode enhancements that were previously only available on PC. It also adds photo mode to the game, letting players take unique shots with a free-form camera and apply different filters.

The next Half-Life game isn’t coming to PSVR…yet.

Valve recently announced Half-Life: Alyx for PC VR.
Many PlayStation VR owners have wondered if a port could be in the works.
Valve has confirmed that a port is not happening at the moment but that it has “not ruled anything out.”

Since Valve officially revealed Half-Life: Alyx, many PlayStation VR owners have been wondering if a port of the game for Sony’s VR headset was in the works. As it turns out, Push Square received an answer from designer Greg Coomer, who stated that “We believe Sony’s VR platform has been a huge success for the medium, and we assume that lots of Sony customers would love to experience this new chapter of Half-Life.” Still, a port of the game for PlayStation VR is not in development.

Hermen Hulst was previously the managing director of Guerrilla Games.
Recently, Hulst was promoted to Head of Sony Worldwide Studios.
In a recent interview, Hulst mentioned that PlayStation will continue to focus on “big, spectacular experiences.”

A few weeks ago, a change-up at Sony saw Hermen Hulst, the managing director of Guerrilla Games, promoted to Head of Sony Worldwide Studios. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Hulst talked about the process of managing Guerrilla Games for the past several years, seeing the studio switch from Killzone to Horizon Zero Dawn, which has also seen Guerrilla grow to over 300 staff and preparing to move into a new studio.
