Releasing last month to rave reviews, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 has already been a breath of fresh air for the once-dormant franchise, allowing series veterans to return to an era where the arcade skating phenomenon was at its peak. Not only did the game feature striking visuals and a return to form in terms of gameplay, but it also offered a myriad of important modern features, including online multiplayer.
The only problem with tuning into the multiplayer modes on Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 was the lack of any private matches, meaning players wanting to skate with their friends would have to join a public lobby. The game’s newest patch, however, eradicates this problem, with the team over at Vicarious Visions implementing private matches alongside a number of other important party features.
While the update’s patch notes haven’t been officially added, the game’s community on Reddit has done some digging and listed the biggest changes they’ve noticed while playing the remake. Party migration and leader promotion have been added, while a number of other significant, highly-requested fixes make the cut too.
Notably, players have been frequently complaining about the kicker to railspin gap, and the Reddit community seems to think the newest patch fixes the issue with the spot. Seen as Tony Hawk players on Reddit claim they originally had to retry the gap several times just to get the game to register it, the specific fix is bound to make a ton of frustrated players very happy.
The Heavy Traffic Challenge has also been fixed, while the BS Rocket Tailslide has been renamed to the BS Fein Slide. The biggest addition is without question the private party modes, however, with players now able to skate freely with their friends without having to open access to random online users. There will likely be more information on the specific additions of the patch once Vicarious Visions itself details exactly what was added in the newest update.
Evidently, fans were eager to see a return from the Birdman and all the other exceptional skaters in the game’s roster, which will hopefully signal to Vicarious Visions that players want more. Whether that’s through a potential Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 + 4 or an entirely new game in the franchise, it seems the iconic skating franchise is well and truly back.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
