Google Stadia is offering some free demos to anyone who would play them.
Google has announced a round of promotions to help remind everyone that Stadia is a thing that exists. This all starts with three days of demos, which kicked off last night.
October 20, 21 and 22 will each see one demo or beta of a game made available for anyone to play. The demos do not require a Stadia Pro subscription, so there’s really no barrier to entry, unless you live in a country where Stadia has yet to launch. Outside of that, a free account is all that is required.
The first demo, available now, is for Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle. It offers access to the 64-player Elimination mode, one of two modes available in the full game. Mega Tunnel Battle itself comes with new power-ups and customisation options for your Pac-Man. The demo is available until October 27, and the full game releases on Stadia November 17.
Later today, the second of three demos goes live. Shifting gears to a completely different genre, this next demo is for Amplitude Studios’ 4X strategy game Humankind. Much like Amplitude’s other works, Humankind is a turn-based strategy with a unique mechanic that essentially allows you to devise a civilization from an amalgamation of cultures and peoples.
Saving the biggest for last, October 22 sees the release of a free demo for Immortals Fenyx Rising, Ubisoft’s action RPG that’s a bit Zelda Breath of the Wild and a bit Assassin’s Creed.
All three demos will be available on the store when they go live. For now, here’s a link to the (already live) Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle demo.
Alongside all of this, Google also announced some new games coming to Stadia. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out November 24, and the newly announced Hello Engineer is set to arrive in 2021 on Stadia.
