A Ghost of Tsushima Sequel Seems Like an Obvious Conclusion

It’s almost hard to believe that Ghost of Tsushima has been out for a little over four months. Since that time, the game has achieved a great deal of success and popularity among many in the gaming community. Now, it seems like Sucker Punch Productions might be thinking about continuing the story of Ghost of Tsushima in some capacity. This may feel like an obvious conclusion, but there’s evidence now that makes it even more obvious.

When Ghost of Tsushima was initially announced and the gameplay trailer was subsequently shown at E3 2018, it came as a surprise to quite a number of people. Those familiar with Sucker Punch Productions before Ghost of Tsushima knew the studio best for the Sly Cooper and Infamous franchises. Compared to those games, Ghost of Tsushima was a massive departure from previous titles.

With the game taking place in Feudal Japan during the first Mongol invasion, the game’s central focus is on that setting and period of history. Given how much the atmosphere and tone of the game hinges on historical accuracy, the writing of the game is very important as a result. Though, what’s interesting is that now that the game has been out for such a short amount of time, Sucker Punch is already looking to hire a new narrative writer.

The posting made on the job website specifically asks that the candidate be knowledgeable of Feudal Japan. The need for a new writer, especially one that needs to be knowledgeable of Feudal Japan, most likely points to something Ghost of Tsushima related. Whether that’s Ghost of Tsushima DLC or a whole new game entirely is impossible to tell at this point, but it does seem much more likely to be a sequel than the former.

Right now, it’s hard to imagine what else this job posting could be in reference to, if not Ghost of Tsushima. It’s supposedly possible that Sucker Punch might be in the early stages of outlining a new story that takes place in Feudal Japan that could relate to an upcoming game. Then again, with how much content is already featured in Ghost of Tsushima by way of hidden trophies and other secrets, it’s unlikely that Sucker Punch is going to invest in this further.

In any case, it will be interesting to see where this job posting leads to, if anything. If it does end up being related to new Ghost of Tsushima content, it’s also important to note that it will still take a while for the content to be announced, let alone released. For example, Rockstar Games posted a job listing on its site that may have been in reference to Grand Theft Auto 6 months ago, and yet there still hasn’t been any official news regarding the release of the game.

Ghost of Tsushima is available now exclusively for the PS4.
