Respawn Entertainment have already begun teasing the beginning of Apex Legends Season 7, with a new set of challenges being issued to players by Horizon, who is expected to debut as the next season’s new playable character. Season 7 isn’t too far off either and is expected to start on November 10th. Or rather, it was.
While Respawn hasn’t said anything in an official capacity, it looks as if Apex Legends Season 7 will actually be starting a whole week earlier on November 4th. This information comes from a recent datamine, where prominent dataminer Shrugtal found some new code that pointed to a new starting date.
This initially directly contradicted the in-game Battle Pass menu, but said menu has since been updated to now state that players only have 14 days left instead of 21 to complete Season 6’s Battle Pass. This also means that Season 7 will begin directly after the game’s Halloween Fight or Fright event, which started today, finishes.
At the time of writing, Respawn hasn’t provided any explanation for the change in date, though it’s suspected that it’s a result of Season 6’s starting date being delayed. It’s possible that, had Season 6 started on time, then November 4th would have been the original starting date to begin with.
Though the season starting earlier means fans don’t have to wait as long for the new additions, it also means that there is suddenly less time for players to complete the Season 6 Battle Pass, which may panic those that haven’t made much progress yet for one reason or another and assumed they still had a few weeks left. It is possible to purchase Battle Pass levels using the in-game Apex Coins currency, but the easiest way to acquire enough of those is to spend actual money, something not everyone can afford to do.
As for what can be expected from Season 7, besides the new character, another datamine seems to point towards the inclusion of a new arena mode. Arena modes can also be found in other battle-royale titles like Fortnite and are primarily used for professional play. Fortnite‘s arena mode is even where its players can unlock events for professional tournaments, so perhaps Respawn is offering something similar for its player base with this inclusion.
And although there is still no sign of Respawn returning to the Titanfall series (aside from rumors and hearsay), that series’ wall-running mechanic has been incorporated into Apex Legends thanks to the Halloween event. Though it’s a rather minor addition, it does show that Respawn hasn’t forgotten Titanfall and fans are hopeful that it’s a sign of bigger things to come.
Apex Legends is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
