Pokemon Sword and Shield: How to Get Poipole | Game Rant

Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s The Crown Tundra DLC has arrived, and it has brought eleven Ultra Beasts along with it. As some players will know, the vast majority of these extradimensional Pokemon are obtained from within Dynamax Adventures, but there is one exception. That exception is the Poison-type Pokemon Poipole, and indeed fans will need to fulfil a specific set of criteria if they want to acquire this Ultra Beast in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The first step to earning Poipole in Pokemon Sword and Shield is to unlock Ultra Beasts, and that is done by completing The Crown Tundra’s main campaign, finishing Peony’s first three Legendary Clues, and picking up the fourth Legendary Clue (Legendary Clue?) from the floor of Peony’s cabin. With this clue in hand, players can unlock Ultra Beasts by simply speaking with Peony again, and this NPC can now be found in the Max Lair.

When that is done, fans can move on to the next phase of obtaining Poipole in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and it centers around Dynamax Adventures. More specifically, players can earn Poipole by simply completing 15 Dynamax Adventures, and this is a very straightforward process indeed. There is an important caveat here, though, and that is that only the Dynamax Adventures that are completed after a player has unlocked Ultra Beasts will count toward earning this Poison-type Pokemon.

Additionally, Pokemon Sword and Shield fans can acquire Poipole by catching five Ultra Beasts from Dynamax Adventures. This means that players that encounter Ultra Beasts very frequently at the start of their searches can unlock Poipole before they have hit 15 Dynamax Adventures, though this is not extremely likely. Even if a fan does get lucky in this way, they should expect to complete many more than 15 Dynamax Adventures before they have caught every Ultra Beast in the game.

After fulfilling one of these two criteria, players will find that Poipole has appeared near the NPCs at the Max Lair, and they can simply interact with it to add it to their teams. Notably, this method of acquisition means that it is not possible to attain a Shiny Poipole, and that news may prove to be slightly disappointing to certain players. However, these fans may be happy to learn that it is certainly possible to get Shiny versions of all of the Ultra Beasts and Legendaries that are found in Dynamax Adventures, and they even appear quite often.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.
