This particular bug was triggered during a round of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer. It is not the first time that a bug like this has appeared, and each time the same discussion is sparked among the game’s community. Each new perspective brings new opportunities into the shooter genre, and this bug allows a small taste of what Modern Warfare could have been.
The clip was posted to Reddit by Odd-Basket4064 and it starts with an over the shoulder view of an operator. He guns down assaulting AI enemies as it becomes clear that he is in the middle of a co-op survival game. As he activates ADS, it zooms in over his shoulder and blurs the surrounding area giving a focus on where his reticle is pointed. The clip is relatively short, but it does show a viable third-person Modern Warfare gameplay moment. Based on the title, it seems that this bug appeared directly after reviving someone. This is definitely possible considering that the revive animation pans out to 3rd person, if something were to interrupt it the player could get stuck in that view.
Fans in the comments say that the main way to trigger this glitch is to have a player leave the game while being revived. Due to the revive not completing, the game locks into a third-person perspective, granting a new perspective to the Survival game-mode.
This is not the first time that the third-person Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bug has appeared. From Warzone to multiplayer, fans have found various ways to trigger this strange occurrence. Due to its continuous appearance, many players believe that the engine was built to handle a third-person perspective, making many fans hope for an eventual third-person game mode coming in an official capacity.
While there is no evidence that such a game mode is in development, fans still remain hopeful. This glitch continues to make an appearance under differing circumstances, and each time it sparks the imagination as to what Call of Duty would be as a third-person shooter title. The one thing that fans do know for sure, is that the game’s engine is capable of running such an experience.
