Pokemon GO Animation Week Guide (Dates, Features, And More)

Pokemon GO’s big annual Halloween event is currently keeping players plenty busy in the mobile AR game, but the excitement isn’t going to end when November arrives. After players have finished Battle Raiding against Mega Gengar and Legendary Darkrai, it will be time for a new string of events to arrive to keep them busy throughout the start of the holiday season. One of those early November events is a tie-in with the animated series Pokemon Journeys.

The mobile AR game will help celebrate Pokemon Journeys with a brand new event called Animation Week 2020. During the event, which kicks off on November 6, players will have a chance to see some special Pokemon spawning in the wild, battle interesting bosses in Raids, and even complete a brand new Pokemon GO Timed Research event that connects to the show’s story.

The event spans nearly a full week, which should be plenty of time for players to complete the Timed Research chain and take full advantage of all of the bonuses and special features that are going to be active. Although there is still a week of October bonuses and events to get through first, it’s never too early to take a look ahead and see what the next big PoGO event is going to have in store for players.

As always, keep in mind that exact details and bonuses could be adjusted closer to the launch of the actual event, so check back for updates. At this point, here is everything revealed in the announcement…

During this event, Pokémon encounters and other content with ties to the two main characters—Ash and Goh—will be available in Pokémon GO. You’ll also be able to participate in event-exclusive Timed Research inspired by the animated series’ storyline!

From Friday, November 6, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. local time

World Cap Pikachu will be appearing in the wild. Some lucky Trainers may even encounter a Shiny one!

From Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Monday, November 16, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), Lugia will be returning to five-star raids—this time with the attack Aeroblast!

Pokémon like Ivysaur, Pinsir, Snorlax, Golurk, and others will be appearing in raids.

You can look forward to encountering the following Pokémon more frequently in the wild: Bulbasaur, Exeggcute, Cubone,

Scyther, Dratini, Cyndaquil, and more! If you’re lucky, you may even encounter a Shiny Cubone!

Pichu, Mantyke, Riolu, and Cubone will be hatching from 7 km Eggs. Lucky Trainers may even hatch a Shiny Cubone!

Take on new Timed Research inspired by multiple episodes of the ongoing series Pokémon Journeys: The Series!

Goh might appear in GO Snapshot! Be sure to take a snapshot during the event!

Goh-inspired avatar items will be available! Check out the Style Shop to get yours for free.

That should be everything players need to prepare for the Animation Week event. More details about each tasks and reward for the Timed Research will be revealed around the event launch, so be sure to check back for all of those details in early November.

For now, Pokemon GO trainers should be able to head out into the world (or play from home) and continue catching the best Unova Pokemon in the game and getting closer to that complete Pokedex. Check back for more Pokemon GO updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
