While the PlayStation 5 launch lineup mostly consists of cross-generational games, there are a few that are completely exclusive to the new console. Previously, this included Lucid Games’ Destruction AllStars, a vehicular combat game with some unique twists, but now it has been delayed to 2021. While that may be disappointing news for some PS5 early adopters, there is a silver lining to the delay.
Along with announcing the Destruction AllStars delay, Sony also confirmed that the game will be made a part of the PS5 PlayStation Plus lineup in February 2021. An exact date wasn’t announced, but it was made clear that PS Plus subscribers will have two months to claim Destruction AllStars. This could be an indication that PS5 games will be a part of PS Plus for two months at a time instead of the normal one month, but this could also be a special exception made for Destruction AllStars.
While PlayStation Plus subscribers already know Destruction AllStars to be one of the free PS Plus games for February 2021, Sony has yet to announce the free PS Plus games for November 2020 at the time of this writing. Sony typically reveals the next month’s free PS Plus games on the last Wednesday of the preceding month, so the announcement should come on Wednesday, October 28, but that remains to be seen.
While PlayStation Plus subscribers are unsure about the games they will be able to claim in November, PS Plus subscribers on PS5 do know about quite a few games that they will have access to come the system’s launch on November 12. Previously, Sony announced the PS Plus Collection, which will give subscribers instant access to some of the PS4’s highest-rated games, including a number of critically-acclaimed exclusive titles. This program is seemingly Sony’s answer to the Xbox Game Pass program, so it will be interesting to see how it evolves over time.
Meanwhile, those who are excited to play Destruction AllStars should note that a new trailer for the game is expected to come next week, along with new gameplay details. Destruction AllStars gameplay trailers so far have made it clear that it is a vehicular combat game that lets players run around outside their cars when they’re destroyed, but there hasn’t been a truly deep dive into its game modes or roster of playable characters just yet.
As far as the PS5 launch lineup of exclusive games goes, early adopters can still look forward to playing Demon’s Souls and Astro’s Playroom on day one.
