NBA 2K21 Next Gen Gameplay Revealed in New Video | Game Rant

With both a current version of NBA 2K21 released and a next-generation version in development, news about the next-gen game has trickled out over time. The most recent piece of information comes in the form of a first look at gameplay from NBA 2K21 on next-gen consoles, and it looks rather impressive.

A video was just released by the official NBA 2K YouTube page. It highlights a match between the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans. The gameplay is also shown off with the assistance of some of the developers of the NBA 2K21, specifically Executive Producer Eric Benish and Gameplay Director Mike Wang.

There are quite a few details included in the gameplay video, such as faster load times for NBA 2K21, updated facial features, a new announcing crew, and the gameplay itself. The very first thing that Benish and Wang point out is how quickly the game loads in, something that should be exciting to hear and see for those who are tired of watching loading screens in sports games.

The gameplay then opens up by showing the “authenticity” added to the experience. Players are seen warming up, security is walking the stands, and refs are game-planning their day just like a real NBA game. There is also a new team calling the game, something that will help the game feel less repetitive for long-time fans. Graphically, the game looks great, and even with NBA 2K21 boasting many new features, the visual fidelity may be enough of a reason for many to pick up the game.

In terms of gameplay, the biggest change that players will notice is the new camera angle. According to the developers, the camera is angled much closer to the ground to freshen up the experience. Those who want the classic look can change the camera. The controversial and often-updated shot meter is also in the game, but with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson draining three-point shots with ease, it could be that the developers found a balanced spot for the meter.

There are many ways the next-gen version of NBA 2K21 outpaces its current-gen version, visuals are just a start. Players can look forward to a brand-new Neighborhood, WNBA features, and more. The game will launch alongside new consoles, so players don’t have to wait much longer if they pre-ordered the Xbox Series X/S or PS5.

NBA 2K21 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One. It releases November 10 for Xbox Series X and November 12 for PlayStation 5.
