Dungeons and Dragons Announces Virtual Play Weekends | Game Rant

Dungeons and Dragons has been going strong for over 40 years, after first starting in 1974. The game is continuing to evolve, as it has just been announced that Virtual Play Weekends will begin soon within the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

As the world becomes more interconnected through the internet, games like Dungeons and Dragons must adapt. Especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is hard for fans to simply meet up, pick their favorite subclasses of D&D, and have a fun time. But an online initiative for the Dungeons and Dragons team is here to help.

Announced via a tweet from the official Dungeons and Dragons Twitter page, beginning in November fans will be able to connect with friends from around the world. D&D Virtual Play Weekends will take place monthly and allow the best Dungeon Masters to play together regularly.

The first weekend takes place from November 13 through November 15. The online nature of the program should help with people who are even just starting with D&D. Instead of needing to find individuals in-person to meet up with, the Virtual Play Weekends could help bring in loads of new fans,

According to the post, games will be either two or four hours long. Baldman Games is also vetting and approving all Dungeon Masters. Dates are listed out through March 2021. It is exciting to see what will come of this initiative. Dungeon and Dragons has long been an enjoyed role-playing game, but an online component could open new doors and opportunities.
