Pokemon Sword and Shield: Where to Find the Mayor in the Giant’s Bed

It’s been almost a week since the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s Crown Tundra DLC. As the second of two expansions for the latest Pokemon titles, The Crown Tundra takes players south into Galar’s equivalent of Scotland. Pokemon Sword and Shield players can meet new friends and new Pokemon in their search for the legendary Calyrex.

One of the new characters that players will meet is the Mayor of Freezington, the main town in the Crown Tundra. The Mayor is a fairly minor character, but he’s essential to catching the Legendary Pokemon Calyrex. After players meet Calyrex for the first time, they’ll be asked to speak with the Mayor about finding its loyal steed.

When players return to Crown Tundra’s Freezington after meeting Calyrex, they’ll find the Mayor has left. To find him, players must first speak to the woman outside his front door. This step may not seem important, but the Mayor won’t spawn at this new location without it. Next, players will need to head to Giant’s Bed, which is to the south-east of Freezington.

On the way to Giant’s Bed, players will first need to pass through Frostpoint Field, an area filled with some of Crown Tundra’s new Pokemon. For those who left Freezington by the vegetable patches, it won’t take long to cross Frostpoint Field and enter Giant’s Bed. From here, players should follow along the left-hand cliff until they reach a cluster of ruined buildings. Beyond the buildings are some fields, where the Mayor of Freezington can be found.

Speaking with the Mayor will continue the Crown Tundra quest chain. He’s worried about poor soil in the region, and the failed harvest. These are both problems related to the King of Bountiful Harvests quest. Once he’s finishing speaking, the Mayor will ask the player to meet with him again back at his house. There’s no reason not to head there straightaway, as returning to Freezington will continue the story.

Later on in the quest, the Mayor will once again be invaluable to players. It’s his knowledge about the Reins of Unity item which makes it possible to snare Calyrax’s steed in The Crown Tundra. However, it’s worth noting that which steed a player get will depend on their choices within the quest. Specifically, the choice of where to grow the Carrot Seeds bought from the old man next to the vegetable patch.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now for Nintendo Switch.
