Halloween is almost here in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Jack has a new trick-or-treat event for you to enjoy with friends.
Throughout October, you’ll have been purchasing Halloween costumes from the Able Sister’s store, grabbing Candy from Nook’s Cranny and growing Pumpkins, now it’s time to have some spooky fun. There will be lots to do and new recipes to find, so let’s get started.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Halloween event guide
This Saturday – October 31, for the uninitiated – Jack will be available in your island’s plaza on Halloween between 5 pm and midnight, so visit him to get started.
Jack will ask if you want to take part in the Halloween fun and if you have a costume. If you say yes – which you obviously should – you’ll be able to go trick or treating with your friends around your island.
You’ll be able to get Candy from your neighbours during the Halloween event, providing you’re wearing a costume. You can also frighten your islanders into giving you Candy and learn new Reactions like Scare or Haunt, though you’ll need to be wearing the Jack Costume he gives you. You might even be gifted a Lollipop, which you can give to Jack to get special rewards like the Spooky Wand.
You can go into Resident Services or your house to take a break then come back out to get more varied dialogue from your islanders and get more Candy.
You can also swap Candy for secrets on who is scared of what mask, so you can enter your islander’s homes wearing a specific mask to frighten them. You’ll get a Lollipop if you successfully scare an islander at home.
Jack will accept Lollipops and Candy in exchange for Halloween-themed prizes, like Spooky furniture and more masks. Hopefully, you’ve gathered enough Pumpkins over the last month to craft all the recipes.
