The Mandalorian Meets Splinter Cell in New Dreams Creation

With The Mandalorian’s second season now streaming on Disney+, fans may be looking for a way to celebrate, particularly those that have already watched the season’s first episode. Luckily for those with Dreams, The Mandalorian: Conviction gives them a way to do so, with some Splinter Cell gameplay mechanics to sweeten the deal. All combined, it makes for an impressive-looking creation.

User Tommaton took to Reddit to show off their creation, which features the titular Mandalorian, otherwise known as “Mando,” sneaking around and facing off against Stormtroopers. While some of the animations are a little odd, the game looks visually impressive, especially considering that it’s been made in Dreams. Mando’s armor, especially, is pretty true to the series, with sharp-looking lighting and blaster effects to compliment some of the scenes.

The Splinter Cell: Conviction mechanics are pretty obvious too, and while the series tends to lean into its action-heavy moments more so than stealthy ones, it’s still an impressive blend of concepts, and one that appears to work pretty well for the project. Fans have been aching for a new Splinter Cell game for some time, and while this isn’t quite that, it may be the closest one can get for the foreseeable future.

All in all, it seems like a great homage to The Mandalorian, which has been hailed as one of the more exciting pieces of Star Wars media by fans. The only real omission here is Baby Yoda, more formally known as “The Child,” which is a central element of the series. Even without that, though, there’s still a lot to appreciate in the brief trailer.

As some have pointed out, the game does have the potential to be taken down by Disney’s lawyers, which is a regular occurrence for fan projects based on popular series. While there’s no guarantee that Disney will feel the need here, it certainly isn’t out of the ordinary for such things to happen, so fans may want to give it a try while they still can.

Dreams has been home to countless impressive creations, from basic games to photo-realistic forests recreated within it. For being a game itself, it’s also a powerful creation tool, and the main limit is simply a player’s imagination. Without a doubt, impressive projects will continue to pop up throughout the game’s lifespan. With new consoles just a few weeks away, the possibilities for what will come next seems pretty much endless.

Dreams is available now for PS4.
