Skate 3 Jumps Up Digital Sales Charts | Game Rant

Despite its age, Skate 3 remains a beloved title to many in the gaming community. Skate 3 has managed to maintain its popularity and longevity over the years, and one decade after it released people are still playing the extreme sports game. In fact, in the UK, Skate 3 appeared in the top three highest-selling games of last week, according to a recent report.

Released as a direct sequel to the other cult classic entry in the franchise, Skate 3 brought much more to the table when it first released in 2010.  It had a larger map, more complex customization options, a career builder mode, and a music list that nearly rivals the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise. Thanks to a recent sale through Xbox Live highlighting games published by EA that put the price of Skate 3 at just £3.74, roughly $5, Skate 3 made the top ten highest-selling games in the UK, according to GamesIndustry.biz.

It was revealed that in the UK, Skate 3 made number three of 10 on the highest-selling digital games for the week of October 24, with Grand Theft Auto 5 placing second and FIFA 21 placing first. Considering this is reflective of UK sales, it makes sense that a FIFA game would rank so high among the top-selling games.

However, what’s even more impressive is the fact that an Xbox 360 game has somehow managed to top several other games in the UK GSD Digital sales chart. Not only are there still active users on a console that’s nearly two generations old, but also a game from 2010 has apparently had quite the resurgence.

Very few games have managed to maintain their popularity for as long as Skate 3 has. In May of this year, a Reddit user managed to land a legendary double bridge jump in-game. The fact that people are still playing this game ten years after the game’s initial release is a testament to how much entertainment it provides to so many fans of the genre. Considering how well it sold this last week in the UK, this apparently doesn’t just apply to just older fans of the entry.

With all of this being said, it’s still interesting how much popularity Skate 3 has retained over such a long time. With the release of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 and the announcement of Skate 4‘s development at EA, this should give long-time fans of the series something to look forward to, regardless of whether or not they picked up Skate 3 again.

Skate 3 is available now for PS3 and Xbox 360.
