Racers, start those engines for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. When Home Circuit was first revealed, many players instantly started thinking of the opportunities to create special tracks for the game. Those ideas are already coming to fruition, as one player has created Rainbow Road in their own home.
Initially, Home Circuit looked perhaps like a high-end tech demo, as opposed to a full-fledged game, but when Nintendo released an extended trailer for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, detailing the creation tools, the varying course themes, grand prix, and more, it became clear that that the options were vast. With creative thinking, players would be able to think up entirely new tracks or recreate classics, and that’s exactly what YouTuber Critbox has done.
Thanks to the course creation options, players can create jungles, snowscapes, and even Rainbow Road in Home Circuit. Youtuber Critbox is up for the challenge, and the new video they posted shares their creation. With extremely high video production quality, Critbox shows off their Rainbow Road map, filled with hills, holiday lights, a 16 bit Mario, rainbow lighting, and more.
The video shows a myriad of camera angles, with a few shots simply show Mario on his kart, or interesting angles of the livingroom Rainbow Road. Other footage is from directly inside the game, showing what Critbox sees when playing their creation inside of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit.
Critbox’s cat seems curious about Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, as bumping into felines has almost been required in all videos of the game since it launched. There is also a shot of the kart comically bumping into the wall. All-in-all, the gameplay, footage, and production value make for an excellent video, and one that showcases what Home Circuit can do with a little bit of creativity.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is an amazing mix of technology, a fun toy, and video games. It has already sold relatively well, as Home Circuit has been charting in Japan among the best selling games. It’s not quite as easy as a plug and play or download game, but with time and effort, it’s possible to come up with unique and special creations in the game. As the holiday season approaches as well, it’s likely that more players will get their hands on the game and the community will continue to share its creations, though it’s tough to tell how many can top this one.
