Super Mario 64 Peach’s Castle Recreated in Warframe | Game Rant

Super Mario 64 has been in the limelight again thanks to the successful release of Nintendo’s Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which has broken digital sales records on the Switch. Its hub world, Peach’s Castle, has been an iconic part of gaming culture since the N64 game released in 1996, and some fans are still using it as the inspiration for custom builds in titles like Warframe.

Digital Extremes’ third-person action multiplayer game is set in the far reaches of space, and allows players who form a Clan to create and customize a Dojo that acts as its home base with amenities like trading and research labs. In the past, this feature has been used to recreate sets like Destiny 2‘s Riven encounter in Warframe, and yesterday Reddit user 12ozdietchoke showed off a Peach’s Castle Dojo on the r/Warframe subreddit.

Other than being positioned against a starry backdrop more reminiscent of Super Mario Galaxy, the recreation is pretty spot-on. The creator’s video shows them running across the grounds and into the Bob-Omb Battlefield painting while Mario 64‘s music and sound effects play, and viewers can see an extra amount of time was put in recreating specific parts of the aesthetic like Peach’s stained glass window and the wallpaper of its main foyer.

Those who want a closer look at 12ozdietchoke’s creation can also see it from numerous cinematic angles thanks to a video by YouTuber Vash Cowaii, who has an entire series dedicated to Warframe Dojos based on properties like Warhammer 40K and Wall-E. However, the original video posted to Reddit does have a certain charm to its recreation of Mario’s movement, and there is a surprise for viewers at the very end.

The ability to create custom Clan Dojos is just one of many things available for Warframe players, as the free-to-play game has received continual updates for years alongside its ports to modern consoles and upcoming release for next-gen consoles. Digital Extremes has also been preparing for its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X launch by releasing updates that substantially reduce Warframe’s file size.

However, the spacefaring game is not the only one which has hosted unique custom content based on Mario in recent months. Two extreme sports games have had particularly prolific custom design communities, with one Skater XL player recreating Bob-Omb Battlefield as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake players reimagine environments like Super Mario Sunshine‘s Delfino Plaza.

Warframe is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are in development.
