The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is an interactive horror game by the same minds that made Until Dawn. Like previous Supermassive titles, players start with a team of characters, and they will live or die based on the choices made in the game. There is a way to save everyone, but it’s going to involve some difficult choices.
Most of the choices in The Dark Pictures: Little Hope are extremely important. Players can improve or tarnish relationships with other characters through conversation choices, but each choice will also influence how the game ends. Choices are timed, but players should have enough time to choose the correct one if they keep a couple things in mind.
In order to get the Salvation ending and save everyone, players have to do three important things. Keep in mind that in this game, choices do matter a lot, so make sure to get an idea of what choices to make before they come up.
These choices are true for the theatrical release, but some things may change with the other, Little Hope special bundles or extended editions.
The first choice players have to make to make sure everyone survives is to ensure that Carver is convicted of witchcraft instead of Mary. Since the historical witch trials of 1692 mirror the deaths of the characters in 1972, players need to save the past Mary to ensure the best ending. During Mary’s witch trial, choose the Enraged option, accusing Reverend Carver of witchcraft instead. Then, choose the Insistent option.
Second, players need to succeed in every improved Little Hope quick time event. The QTEs decide a character’s fate.
The third thing players have to do is to choose options that counteract each character’s worst traits. Make sure to choose the nicer options when given a choice, keeping the group bolstered and safe. There are plenty of conversational choices that can influence the ending, but the most important choices are these:
- Saving Angela: Angela must choose the reassuring option and stand by John at the end when they both face their demons.
- Saving Daniel: At the textile factory, Daniel must pick the reassuring option and choose to fight his demon alone.
- Saving Taylor: Taylor needs to tell Daniel to let her go when she is taken by her demon. Let her fight the demon alone.
- Saving John: Let him make the heroic choice at the end when John’s demon tries to break down the door of the burned out house.
This will trigger the best possible, if somewhat confusing, ending for Little Hope.
