The PlayStation 5 is quickly approaching its November 12 release date, and with hype for the console reaching an all-time high one gamer has made special PS5 game covers to pass the time. With two movie spoofs and two covers for PlayStation exclusive IPs, the artist’s work may help hype up the console’s highly-anticipated launch.
Going by IQRAM on Twitter, the artist kicked off their collection with a spoof of Alita: Battle Angel. Rather than using Alita for the cover, however, Horizon Zero Dawn protagonist Aloy is seen applying face paint. With the text of the Battle Angel subtitle matching the color of the paint being applied, Aloy stands out on this specially-made cover.
IQRAM also swaps out James Bond with a PlayStation icon. They depict an Uncharted character filling the shoes of the most famous secret agent of all time. Rather than going with Uncharted’s protagonist Nathan Drake, the artist made the character’s brother Sam the next 007 instead. While it may seem like an odd decision, there is no denying that Nate’s older brother looks great in the No Time to Die cover.
The other two cases are purely video game related, with the first depicting a possible sequel for Days Gone. Titled Days Gone: Evolution by the artist, the cover shows one of the game’s Freakers in gruesome detail. The character model looks great with a dark background, and the white PS5 banner clashes well with the main image. While a sequel is still unconfirmed, the original Days Gone was recently updated to run smoother on the PS5.
The final cover in the lineup shows off 2018’s fatherly Kratos, as the mockup is a special cover for God of War: Ragnarok. With God of War changing details regarding Ragnarok, it seems fitting that IQRAM’s cover for the game makes some alterations as well. In this cover, Kratos’ eye paint is changed to blue to match the game’s logo, with snow falling in the background to complete the overall vibe. IQRAM calls this piece their favorite of the lineup, and based on the replies fans seem to agree.
With the artist saying on Tweet that these are “rookie edits,” it should be interesting to see what the artist can make going forward. For players that are excited to get their hands-on PlayStation 5’s actual game cases, the wait will be over soon.
The PlayStation 5 will be available November 12.
