Twitch Bans VTuber Projekt Melody | Game Rant

If Twitch is known for one thing, it’s suspending or banning big-named partnered streamers from its platform for a variety of questionable practices, controversies, or even without any publicly-known reason, like was the case with Dr. Disrespect for instance. The same rules apply to VTubers, and one of the most popular ones out there, Projekt Melody, seems to have been recently banned from the website.

The information regarding Projekt Melody’s ban comes from a Twitter account called StreamerBans, in which it lists the most recent Twitch bans and provides a link to its own website that shows how many times an account was banned, how long the longest ban was, and how long ago the last ban happened. As such, StreamerBans first stated that Projekt Melody was banned from Twitch before, stating that the account was also unpartnered, which could potentially suggest that the ban is more serious rather than a temporary suspension or soft ban of some kind. As of now, no exact reason or explanation was given for the ban.

Projekt Melody first joined Twitch in March 2020 and was partnered before having her very first stream. At the time, the decision to partner the VTuber was rather odd and confusing due to the necessary qualifications that needed to be met for someone to be a Twitch partner. However, since Projekt Melody originally came from an adult website, some believed that a deal was struck between the two sites, thus granting the steamer instantaneous partnership status. Interestingly enough, Projekt Melody would receive a three day suspension the day after getting partnered.

As far as Projekt Melody herself, she has been known for her flirtatious and lewd attitudes during her streams. For example, during her debut stream (during which she gained over 50,000 followers), she stated that “I want to be respectful of the platform, while also feeling sexy,” possibly suggesting her true intentions while trying to follow Twitch’s TOS (terms of service). As such, one possible explanation for the ban (as well as the three day suspension in March) is that the VTuber violated TOS terms with inappropriate behavior during her streams, but again, no specific explanation has yet been provided.

Going forward, it’s hard to say if Projekt Melody’s ban will ever be lifted and if she will come back to Twitch. On the contrary, if the ban is permanent, then it’s possible that she will shift her focus and streams over to another website.
