Noted rapper Megan Thee Stallion, a known gamer, has posted a new Instagram video of herself cosplaying as Mortal Kombat 11‘s Mileena. The video shows some incredibly impressive make-up effects, revealing a game-accurate take on the fan favorite character from the award-winning artist.
Megan Thee Stallion’s Mileena cosplay appears to be part of some kind of sponsorship with Warner Bros. Interactive, as the post included the ad hashtag. It seems Warner Bros. Interactive is looking to use Megan Thee Stallion’s massive social media following to promote the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate re-release, which includes the base game, both Kombat Packs, the Aftermath story expansion, and more.
Those that don’t pick up Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate when it launches on November 17 can still buy Kombat Pack 2, which adds three new characters to the massively successful fighting game. The Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack 2 characters include Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo, Rain, and of course, Mileena, whose absence from MK11 has been one of fans’ biggest complaints about the game since before it even launched. And if Megan Thee Stallion’s Instagram post is to be believed, fans can look forward to seeing the first Mortal Kombat 11 Mileena gameplay sooner rather than later, though an exact date has not been revealed at the time of this writing.
The Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate re-release is significant for more reasons than just the new characters it’s bringing to the table. It will also mark Mortal Kombat 11‘s next-gen debut, as the game is set to launch for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on November 17. Along with the new content, Mortal Kombat 11 fans can look forward to an enhanced gameplay experience when they play the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions when compared to other versions of the game.
In the meantime, Megan Thee Stallion isn’t the only celebrity that’s shown off some impressive Mortal Kombat-themed cosplay lately. WWE star Zelina Vega recently showed off some Mortal Kombat 11 Kitana cosplay that generated significant attention on social media, and she said that she will be showing off her Mileena cosplay in the near future as well.
After Mortal Kombat 11 game director Ed Boon trolled Mileena fans for well over a year about her not being in the game, it’s nice to see the fan favorite character finally getting the recognition she deserves. Here’s hoping any future Mortal Kombat games don’t make fans wait quite so long to get to play as Mileena.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
