With the worldwide release of the Xbox Series X just under a week away, many in the gaming community are eager to get their hands on the new next-gen system. With a cavalcade of retail units already pre-ordered across the world, it won’t be long now until every one of them receives an Xbox Series X. Although, it seems that one lucky fan has already received their console.
The official price and release date of the Xbox Series X was unveiled back in September of this year, just two months ahead of the console’s scheduled release date. One would expect that console pre-orders wouldn’t begin to arrive until that scheduled release date, at the earliest. However, amazingly, a fan from Portugal was surprised to find that their console had already shown up practically one week ahead of the release date.
Reddit user JMH71 posted a picture on Reddit earlier today revealing that their Xbox Series X had indeed arrived early after purchasing the console directly from the Microsoft Store. This happened just one day after a similar incident occurred in Montreal, Canada, where a recipient received an Xbox Series S over a week early.
While this is quite amazing and exciting for JMH71, there is one problem with having the console arrive early. The console did arrive early, but the user still has to wait for the launch titles for the Xbox Series X to release on the same day as the console’s launch date, though, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the console will be completely inoperative.
JMH71’s unit will likely have Xbox Game Pass and other amenities included with it, which might help them pass the time until more games start to roll out. Then again, once the user logs in using their Microsoft account, it seems likely that a multitude of games will automatically transfer to the Series X thanks to backward compatibility, so there’s that too.
That seems likely, considering that the picture JMH71 provided includes their Xbox One right next to the Series X retail box, so once they log in to their Microsoft account, all of their digitally downloaded Xbox One games will transfer to the Series X. Hopefully, that will be enough to tide JMH71 over. While this lucky user gets to enjoy the Xbox Series X early, the world still has to wait for the console to officially launch later this month. Maybe even more users will receive the console early in the coming days.
The Xbox Series X is set to launch on November 12th, 2020.
