Resident Evil Movie Reboot Casts Chief Irons | Game Rant

Production on the Resident Evil movie reboot is well under way, with Raccoon City Police Department sets being built and the main characters being cast. Now yet another name has been added to the Resident Evil movie reboot cast, as the movie has revealed exactly who will be playing the villainous Chief Brian Irons in the upcoming film.

Donal Logue, known for his role as Detective Harvey Bullock in Gotham, has been cast as Chief Brian Irons in the Resident Evil movie reboot, as reported by Deadline. Chad Rook from The Flash and Lily Gao of The Handmaid’s Tale fame have also been cast in the Resident Evil movie reboot, but in unspecified roles. Considering Donal Logue’s long history of playing law enforcement characters in movies and on TV, he should be a solid pick for the role of Chief Irons in the new movie.

For those who may be unaware of who exactly Chief Irons is in the Resident Evil universe, he serves as the police chief of the Raccoon City Police Department. Irons has a prominent role in the Resident Evil 2 video game, where he is working with the Umbrella Corporation to help cover up the T-Virus incident. Irons appears most prominently in Resident Evil 2‘s Claire Redfield storyline, and also interacts with both Sherry and William Birkin in the games. William Birkin has already been cast in the Resident Evil movie, with Neal McDonough taking on the role.

It will be interesting to see if there are any major changes made to Chief Irons in the Resident Evil movie reboot. While it is expected to be mostly faithful to the source material, the Resident Evil movie reboot also seems to be taking some liberties. For example, the film seems to jumping over the original Resident Evil to focus on the events of Resident Evil 2, while also roping in characters who weren’t in the Resident Evil 2 video game – namely Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.

Then again, it’s possible that the movie will show both the mansion incident from the first Resident Evil along with the events of Resident Evil 2. While the Resident Evil movie character and cast lists are available, and set photos of the Raccoon City Police Department have appeared online, there hasn’t been much revealed in the way of actual plot details.

The Resident Evil movie reboot is currently aiming for release next year, and assuming the COVID-19 pandemic doesn’t push back plans, fans should find out more at some point in 2021.

Resident Evil is expected to premiere in 2021.
