Outriders is People Can Fly’s take on an Sci-Fi RPG looter shooter, now set to launch on February 2, 2021. Despite the short delay, more information about the game continues to roll in, with Outriders broadcast 4 revealing a ton of new information about the game.
The Technomancer, Outriders‘ 4th class which was kept a secret for quite some time, takes center stage, with fans getting to see everything from the its ability to summon a rocket launcher or mini-gun to its powerful, control-oriented turrets. The broadcast breaks down its skill trees, its unique ability that can heal itself, its summons, and other players, and much, much more. As it mentions, the Technomancer is the ultimate support class, but the beauty of it ties in with the game’s slogan: “survival demands agression.”
Per every Outriders broadcast so far, it ends on a Q&A with community manager Robbie Palmer, but there are two big, interconnected ideas showcased before it and after the Technomancer. The first of these are Outriders’ Expeditions, endgame content designed to test every way that players build their character. These are all available day one, as Outriders is not a “games-as-a-service” title. Players will be able to access 14 expeditions as soon as they feel their ready for the endgame, but it appears that it doesn’t really end there. Completing all of them unlocks the last expedition, which may be the ultimate test for every class in the game (the Trickster, the Devastator, the Pyromancer, and the Technomancer).
This endgame content isn’t just a test of Outriders‘ class builds, though, as weapons and gear matter equally. As such, players are able finely tune weapons and gear with unique abilities that, while making the game fun, also add a unique layer. As described in the above video, the only thing better than a gun that freezes enemies with ice bullets is a gun that freezes enemies and also strikes them with lightning.
There’s just a few months left until Outriders‘ release date, so while all of this seems promising, fans can probably expect more on the horizon.
Outriders releases February 2, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Stadia version in development for later in 2021.
