Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is Getting Crash Bandicoot DLC | Game Rant

This year marked the return of two major Activision properties, with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 being a modern-day remake of the original two games, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time being a continuation of the original trilogy of PlayStation games in both mechanics and plot. Both titles seem to have won the hearts of long-time fans, and now Activision is having them cross over.

Announced earlier today, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 will receive an update tomorrow that will come with some Crash 4-themed cosmetics in the Create-A-Skater mode. Specifically, there will be 13 items in total: nine shirts, three hats, and a new skateboard deck. Unfortunately, there’s no sign of having Crash and/or Coco appear as playable skaters, which could have made for fun cameos.

These items will be free starting November 6, and those aren’t the only additions. The update will come with new challenges for the multiplayer, Combo Practice, and Create-A-Park modes, and improved randomization of parks and scores for the Jams and Competitive modes.

There will also be a brand-new Solo Tours feature, where players can replay Tours mode with individual skaters so they can max out their stats. When starting a Solo Tour, all Goals and Medals will be reset, but the current Tours mode will be moved to Crew Tours so players won’t lose any of their progress.

While all this is free, players can purchase a separate DLC bundle called The Birdman Pack. The bundle costs $5 and comes with ten items, such as new boards, but all of the proceeds will go to charity. Specifically, Tony Hawk’s Skatepark Project, which helps build public skateparks for children.

It is somewhat ironic that the game is receiving DLC for Crash Bandicoot and not Spyro the Dragon, as skateboarding is more associated with that series. Spyro 3 is known for containing a skateboarding mini-game; and one fan even recreated the skate parks from that game in Pro Skater.

As for Crash 4, while there’s no confirmed DLC, there have been rumors of the game being ported to next-gen consoles and the Nintendo Switch. A Switch port is something fans have been hopeful for since the game was announced, but neither Activision, Toys For Bob, nor Nintendo have commented on the possibility.

Crash 4 has also quickly gained a reputation of being notoriously difficult, especially for newcomers who never played the original games. Any players feeling overwhelmed may want to read up on some tips and tricks to help out.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
