Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy Announcement Reportedly Coming Tomorrow

The Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy is one of the worst kept secrets in gaming, with seemingly a never-ending list of leaks and rumors coming out regarding its development. It seems like an announcement is finally about to happen, however, as the Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy will likely be unveiled tomorrow morning on the BioWare Blog.

With tomorrow being N7 Day, the yearly event where fans and developers gather to celebrate the Mass Effect series, a major announcement regarding the remaster could not come at a better time. With the Mass Effect voice cast reuniting for the special occasion, the voice actors for the iconic characters of the series will have plenty to talk about if the remastered trilogy of games is announced. With numerous gaming insiders posting about the reveal event, it seems all but guaranteed to happen.

While it was unclear what improvements a Mass Effect remaster would make, fans seem likely to find out at 8 AM PT tomorrow. Gaming insider Nibellion quoted Kat Bailey, the editor in chief of USgamer. Not only did Kat say that “Mass Effect fans should be expecting news” tomorrow at that time, but she believes that “it’s the remaster we’ve been expecting.” Nibellion echoes this belief, telling fans that the announcement of the long-in-development remaster is “really happening” on N7 Day.

Both Tom Phillips of Eurogamer and Liana Ruppert of Game Informer hinted at the announcement as well, with Ruppert specifically saying that the announcement is “going to be Legendary.” The capitalized L in “legendary” could hint at a name for the collection of games, though this is unconfirmed. However, the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition being rated in Korea seems to make this theory more credible, and Ruppert certainly could be hinting at this connection with the intentional capitalization.

If multiple insiders and higher-ups from gaming news sites confirming the announcement was not enough, it seems VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb even has access to the trilogy’s cover art. While the image was heavily blurred to prevent a takedown by EA, multiple Mass Effect characters such as the powerful Asari Liara and the loyal Turian Garus can be made out — along with Commander Shepard’s iconic N7 helmet. Seeing Shepard again will no doubt be exciting for fans, though many would surely like to see Shepherd in Mass Effect 5 as well if the sequel ever comes to fruition.

Regardless, the official announcement of the trilogy will finally bring an end to all the the Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered rumors, giving fans real news on an updated collection of games that they have waited an entire console generation to receive. How extensive the upgrades are and what changes are made to the trilogy remains to be seen, but fans will likely find out all about the updates on the BioWare Blog tomorrow morning.

The Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy will reportedly be revealed tomorrow at 8 PM PT.
