Kerbal Space Program 2 has been delayed into 2022

Kerbal Space Program 2 has seen another delay, and this time, it’s being pushed into 2022.

Originally set to release sometime this year, back in May the studio delayed Kerbal Space Program 2 into fall 2021 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One due to complications from COVID-19.

Now, according to creative director Nate Simpson, it will be 2022 before we get our hands on it.

Simpson states a reason for the delay is partially due to the “immense technical and creative challenge” with the sequel.

“It’s not enough to deliver a bunch of new features – those features have to be woven together into a stable, polished whole,” said Simpson. “We’re creating a reliable foundation on which players and modders alike can build for another decade or more. That involves solving problems that have never been solved before, and that takes time.

“It’s killing us how much of this we have to keep under our hats until the game is released. We can’t express how much we’re looking forward to soaking up all your reactions and discoveries on that day.”

Simpson closed the forum post by stating that next year, we can look forward to more information on the game’s development and we can look forward to a new dev diary soon and a feature video this winter.

The development of Kerbal Space Program 2 moved to a new in-house studio earlier this year, which took over from the previous developer, Star Theory.
