Vampire The Masquerade Battle Royale Will Be Free With Skins-Based Monetization

The battle royale fanfare is still in full effect as games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continue to dominate the gaming consciousness. The genre is so popular that even stranger properties are getting in on the action, much like publisher World of Darkness is doing with the recently revealed Vampire: The Masquerade rattle royale game.

While many World of Darkness fans still try to wrap their head around developer Sharkmob’s still untitled Vampire Battle Royale project, other questions have arisen about the monetization of the game. Those getting over the initial confusion now have confirmation that the game will be free-to-play with no “pay-to-win” mechanics. The main source of monetization will come from optional aesthetic purchases.

This confirmation came from the World of Darkness Official website which posted a FAQ regarding the title which also provided additional information. The game will be played in a third-person perspective and include both PVP and PVE elements, all set in the streets of Prague. The more concerning issue by lore loyalists is how Sharkmob’s Battle Royale fits into the narrative of the World of Darkness. The FAQ assures fans that Sharkmob has done its research on the lore and that the story will make sense with regards to the Masquerade.

Unfortunately for the World of Darkness brand, while a Vampire: The Masquerade Battle Royale hasn’t been met with hostility, many fans are more concerned about a much bigger title. The long-awaited Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 was revealed last year and has since faced numerous hits of bad news. With Bloodlines 2 recently losing a narrative designer after numerous delays, fans are more concerned with the sequel to a beloved RPG than a Battle Royale title.

So with the basic details out of the way, all that is left is seeing the game in action. Fans are still eager to see how Sharkmob’s title will play out, but those hoping for some basic training in the Battle Royale genre have time before the expected 2021 launch.

Sharkmob’s Vampire battle royale is in development and set to launch in the second half of 2021.
