Destiny 2: Beyond Light Title Screen and Music Revealed

Prior to the launch of a new Destiny 2 expansion, players can expect a few things. Bungie usually announces some key changes to existing systems that should make the game better, there are a wealth of trailers to analyze (and over-analyze), and recently there have been some end of season events.

But one of the elements that signals that a new Destiny 2 expansion is just days from release is the introduction of a new title screen. Every year, Bungie swaps out the title screen for something new and with that comes some new music to enjoy as the game initially loads.

Although Destiny 2 players will have to wait until November 10th to see and hear the title screen on their console or PC, it’s now available to sample in video form thanks to the preload files. Credit to Destiny 2 community member Ginsor for sharing online.

The Destiny 2: Beyond Light title has subtle references to the setup of the expansion, which sees the Guardians heading to Europa to uncover a mystery beneath its icy surface. This latest expansion also introduces a new subclass “element” called Stasis that will allow the Guardians to freeze, debuff, and modify enemies in some unique ways. Bungie has been steadfast in emphasizing that Stasis is not “ice powers,” but the icy theme still carries through the title screen.

Alongside the new look for the Destiny 2 start screen comes a new musical score to enjoy. The Beyond Light score uses some similar themes from prior Destiny 2 music, like the hypnotic theme of the Darkness ships, but it packages it in a more hard rock wrapper. Bungie has been introducing new title screen music for a while now, but somehow the team continues to find new ways to capture the spirit of the expansion without making anything feel repetitive.

One of the great things about Beyond Light that fits in well with this title screen is the fact that Destiny 2 will be introducing a “dark mode” for its menus. For a while now players have complained about the juxtaposition of the dark title screens mixed with the blinding white light of the initial loading screen. On November 10th, players can make everything easier on the eyes while gaming late at night.

It may be just a title screen and some music, but these two components are some of the last few on the Destiny 2 trail to new content. There isn’t much time left before Beyond Light releases, but first, there is a season-ending event to enjoy.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases November 10, 2020 for PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 version will be accessible on November 12.
