Everything You Need to Know for Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s November Update

Several months ago, Animal Crossing: New Horizons entered the Fall Season, which introduced new DIY recipes, pumpkins, and a huge Halloween event. The latest update also brought a new guest character to the village and transitioned the island from summer to autumn.

Another huge update is expected to arrive in Animal Crossing: New Horizons soon, which will bring Winter to the game. Like the Summer and Fall expansions, the upcoming November update will bring new activities to the island alongside new crafting items, a guest villager, and the Toy Day event’s return.

Technically speaking, the upcoming November update is still part of the Halloween expansion that Nintendo released in September. However, the Winter part of the update will be released separately from the Halloween expansion. In the preview trailer of the Halloween update, Nintendo revealed that players could expect to see the Winter expansion sometime in late November. Unfortunately, Nintendo did not specify when exactly in November the update will be released, but it is worth noting that it will likely see the light of day sometime before Thanksgiving, given that Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will be given a special event to celebrate the occasion.

Those in the Northern Hemisphere will start to notice mushrooms popping all over their AC:NH island. While they may not be noticeable at first, mushrooms will soon be sprouting on the island starting this month, and as expected, they can be used to craft seasonal items. After players log in to the game, Isabelle will inform them of all the necessary details on how to spot mushrooms and easily obtain them.

In the teaser trailer released last September, two special characters are seen in the footage, suggesting their arrival to the island soon. First is Franklin the turkey, who has been a staple during the Thanksgiving season in previous Animal Crossing games. Franklin will serve as the host of the upcoming Harvest Event, which will probably occur in late November, just in time for Thanksgiving. During the Harvest Festival, Franklin will ask players to acquire different ingredients obtained via foraging or fishing, and maybe even visiting another island. Interestingly enough, dataminers also uncovered clues that cooking will be introduced in the game, so this feature will likely be unveiled during the Harvest Festival.

Apart from Franklin, Nintendo also teased is the reindeer character called Jingle. Like Franklin, Jingle has appeared in previous Animal Crossing games and is tasked to host the Toy Day event. Again, the event’s specific date is yet to be revealed, but based on previous games, it will likely take place on the 24th of December, just in time for Christmas. During the Toy Day event, Jingle will ask players to collect various items in exchange for gifts that players can give to other villagers as a Christmas present.

Of course, it wouldn’t be unlikely for Nintendo to introduce new elements during Toy Day, especially since this event is likely the last one for the year. Given the wide range of activities in New Horizons, the number of new features that Nintendo could introduce are nearly endless, and the studio may even take advantage of the game’s crafting system and multiplayer mode to spice things up. Nonetheless, the upcoming late-November update will surely be a huge one and will probably be bigger than the events introduced during the Summer and Halloween seasons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
