Some Xbox Series X Amazon Pre-Orders May be Delayed to December 31st

The next few days are shaping up to be incredibly important in the gaming community. November 12 marks the release of the PS5 and tomorrow, November 10, is the release of the Xbox Series X. However, a recent email from Amazon seems to indicate that there will be several players that won’t be able to join in on the Xbox launch day festivities.

Amazon has begun sending emails to certain customers that pre-ordered the Xbox Series X through its site, indicating that they may not receive their console on launch day. The email states that it is hoping to ship more Series X consoles in the coming weeks as it gains more stock through November and December. Unfortunately, this means that some players likely won’t receive their delivery until December 31 at the latest.

This email comes as many players around the globe have been nervously sharing their Amazon shipping status. Amazon recently began updating pre-orders for both the Xbox Series X and PS5 on its site, giving players some indication as to when they can expect their new consoles. Now players have begun sharing screenshots of their individual emails, many of which are angry that the site waited until the day before to say something.

This is not the first time that Amazon has told players to expect delays. In September, Amazon sent a separate wave of emails that indicated that Xbox Series X pre-orders may not arrive on time. However, at that time, players assumed that this message might just be a precautionary measure and that it would work to ensure this didn’t become reality.

Amazon’s shipment issues don’t seem isolated to Xbox alone. A similar warning of the possible delay was sent in September to players that pre-ordered the PS5. And while Amazon has yet to send a follow-up email stating that PS5 pre-order deliveries could be delayed as late as December 31, it seems the company has no problem with notifying customers the day before something is expected to arrive.

While it seems Amazon is having a difficult time acquiring products for the customers who purchased them, other outlets seem to have detailed plans on how more players can get their hands on the new consoles. Walmart recently outlined exact times that players can log-on to Walmart.com on launch day for both the Xbox Series X and PS5 in order to purchase them. Considering what Amazon is projecting in its emails, it seems these Walmart customers are likely to receive their consoles at the same time as pre-orderers.

Xbox Series X is set to release on November 10, 2020.
