PS5 Video Features Michael B Jordan Sharing Gaming Memories

With the November 12 release date for the PS5 being so close, Sony is ramping up its promotional content for what may be the most-anticipated console of all-time. In a video released today, Creed and Black Panther actor Michael B. Jordan sat down with the PS5 and shared some of his fondest gaming memories.

Jordan got to play two of the PS5’s launch titles, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. During his playthroughs of the two games, Jordan praised the graphics and the on-screen action. With the PS5 set to be one of the most powerful consoles ever with the potential to output 8K, games of the next console generation look to utilize the incredible power to deliver whole new experiences.

Besides the PS5 and its games, Jordan also shared some of his gaming memories, between begging his parents for the first PlayStation to Resident Evil being his and his sister’s favorite game. Jordan even remarked: “I’m pretty sure I came out the womb with a PlayStation controller in my hand.”

Besides Michael B. Jordan, Sony has also enlisted the likes of rapper Travis Scott and soccer star Robert Lewandowski to promote the PS5. With Scott, real name Jacques Webster, there is expected to be a collab merchandise line including a new Nike SB Dunk Low colorway that has the PlayStation logo on its heel.

With the PS5 being as hyped as it is, there are some concerns surrounding its availability. Sony has confirmed that the PS5’s launch will be online-only due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. To prevent long queues outside stores where social distancing and mask wearing would be impossible to enforce, Sony has mandated that those looking to purchase its latest console on launch day will have to do so through the online store of their preferred retailer.

As for Michael B. Jordan, this encounter with the PS5 is far from his first foray into gaming, having starred as Jace Stratton in Gears of War 3 and as Justice Young in NBA 2K17. Jordan will also be producing a live-action Static Shock movie. Though it does not have a planned release date, the project is set to launch “a new universe based around black superheroes.” Jordan, whose breakout role was as shooting victim Oscar Grant in 2013’s Fruitvale Station, has spoken many times on the need for diversity in Hollywood. The actor spoke at a Black Lives Matter protest earlier this year, advocating for an increase in black talent and for black stories to be told.

The PlayStation 5 will release in North America and select countries on November 12 and on November 19 for the rest of the world.
