This week’s scheduled update is apparently a big one as new information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare patch 1.29 comes out. So far, Infinity Ward has not disclosed the contents of the patch, but it is a large one. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is already a massive game, making many fans wonder what could possibly require such a large update.
The 1.29 update will be bringing around 33GB worth of new information into the game. This increases the total size of the game, adding to the 250GB of Call of Duty content that fans are already dealing with. Concerns over the game’s file size are nothing new, but fans will want to know that the game is putting their hard drive to good use for.
The patch is expected to be slightly smaller for fans of Call of Duty: Warzone, but many will need to readjust their storage to fit this extra patch. Many fans are guessing that this patch is in preparation for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War which is set to go live later this week. The developers have not shared patch notes as of yet, but that does not mean they won’t post-patch the launch. All that is known is that it is a big download, and PS4 gamers are able to preload it. The patch will go live at 11 PM PST on November 11th, two days before the new game launches on all platforms.
This could be the first step in Call of Duty: Warzone’s evolution as the game prepares to adopt new gear and weapons from the upcoming title. Players know that the Warzone integration will bring in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gear, weapons, operators, and themes that will shape the Warzone experience in a new way.
One interesting fact is that all three games will evolve in conjunction with each other. Although the battle pass and season content will not be available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the game will still allow players advancement through the battle pass tiers.
The update could also have to do with players’ ability to use previously earned content. Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare have some extra preparation and work to be done before integration, and this patch may be the first step in the right direction. Still, only time will tell exactly what this update holds and whether or not it will be worthy of fans’ hard drive space.
