Customers who pre-ordered Xbox Series X consoles from Amazon received some bad news today.
According to multiple people, all of whom pre-ordered Xbox Series X consoles from Amazon, their units won’t arrive in time for launch. In fact, they may not get there until December 31.
The Xbox Series X launches today, November 10 worldwide, so that’s when most expect to receive their pre-orders, save for other minor delays.
Amazon emailed a number of people advising them of the bad news. Many of those affected posted screenshots of the email they received (via The Verge).
In the email, Amazon says more stock will arrive in November and December, so those affected may yet get their console sooner the end of December, but it’s still a long and strange delay, especially given that Amazon could have easily stopped taking pre-orders when all of its allocated stock had been sold.
