Established Leaker Hints at Another Cyberpunk 2077 Delay

Several weeks ago, CD Projekt Red made headlines when it announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would be delayed for a third time. Although some fans were disappointed with the news of another delay, many accepted it under the assumption this is the final release date change. Now, a rumor circulating online claims that this may no longer be the case, and Cyberpunk 2077 may be delayed to 2021.

The rumor originates from a tweet released by Tiffany Treadmore, a video game insider who predicted the cancellation of E3 this year and the existence of Half-Life Alyx before Valve’s official announcement. In the tweet in question, the leaker asked, “So, what if #Cyberpunk2077 gets delayed…Again. Like what if it doesn’t launch this year.” As expected, this Cyberpunk 2077 rumor received a fair amount of attention, with one follower asking for more details. Unfortunately, Tiffany did not expound on the rumor and simply replied: “I’ve heard unhappy things.”

At the moment, CD Projekt Red still hasn’t responded to the rumor claiming that Cyberpunk 2077 is delayed again, so players should take this with a heavy dose of skepticism. Officially, Cyberpunk 2077 is still set to release on December 10, 2020, unless CD Projekt Red makes another announcement saying otherwise.

However, it is worth noting that while the previous delays of Cyberpunk 2077 were mostly met with understanding from players, a fourth one may be the final straw for both fans and investors. Several weeks ago, reports revealed that CD Projekt Red’s stock value decreased by 25% since August. While no direct cause was confirmed, analysts believe that the uncertainty surrounding Cyberpunk 2077’s development is a major factor.

On the brighter side of things, analysts also believe that CD Projekt Red’s stock will shoot up immediately after Cyberpunk 2077 is released. Of course, the crucial thing here is whether or not the game will meet its release target in December, but if it does, it is more than likely that the studio will recoup its losses, given that Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to perform well. Interestingly enough, CD Projekt Red is confident that the game will do well in the market, and the studio even said that it expects Cyberpunk 2077 to reach 90 or above on Metacritic.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red is still facing some backlash after its latest decision to delay Cyberpunk 2077. Apparently, disgruntled fans began hurling death threats towards CD Projekt Red developers. In response, lead designer Andrzej Zawadzki went on to Twitter to condemn those fans who have crossed the line, reminding them that developers are people too.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases December 10th for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
