For years now, a major part of the Call of Duty community has been YouTubers. With content creators getting early access to news and serving as a voice for the Call of Duty community, it is shocking to learn that one major CoD YouTuber has plagiarized a smaller channel’s video.
MrDalekJD, best known for his Call of Duty Zombies content, is one of the biggest faces in the YouTube scene for the CoD series. As part of the Black Ops Cold War reveal event and boasting a subscriber count of over 2.4 million, one would not expect to see such a big channel stealing content from smaller users. It seems like that is exactly what had happened, however, as it is impossible to argue against recent allegations made against MrDalekJD.
The smaller channel that claims to have had their content stolen is SuggestiveGaming, and with almost 200,000 subscribers in his own right, it is odd that MrDalekJD thought he would not get noticed committing the act. The video in question that was copied by the larger channel is a summary of the Call of Duty: Black Ops storyline, and SuggestiveGaming was quick to post a clip highlighting how MrDalekJD copied the script verbatim.
The one-minute clip instantly proves SuggestiveGaming’s point that MrDalekJD stole his script and “re-recorded it verbatim” for his own video, and it is rather shocking to hear the similarities. Aside from using the exact same script, MrDalekJD supposedly copied SuggestiveGaming’s style of editing in the video as well, making Dalek’s version of the Black Ops storyline retelling a complete ripoff.
Rather than denying the shameful act, Dalek took to Twitter to deliver a public apology to SuggestiveGaming and his fans, stating that “we as a gaming community should be a team and I let the team down.” With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War set to provide the latest version of the popular CoD Zombies mode, this situation comes at an awful time for MrDalekJD. With Zombies content being the YouTuber’s main source of views and revenue, damage to his reputation during what should normally be an exciting time is undoubtedly frustrating.
It is for the best that the Call of Duty Zombies YouTuber was caught in the despicable act, however, and it will be interesting to see how fans take his apology. For SuggestiveGaming, hopefully, this bad act from a fellow YouTuber has a positive effect, as more gamers may see the effort he puts into his fully original content.
