Finding treasure is the name of the game in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Eivor’s raven vision will make this a lot easier to do. Despite this, there are still some hidden treasure that are very difficult to reach, like the one hiding underwater in Rygjafylke. When first finding this wealth marker, players may have a very difficult time getting to it.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla marks treasure on the map in a variety of different ways. One of the more common things players will run into is wealth, usually in the form of Carbon Ingots. For those players finding themselves stuck on obtaining some of the Rygjafylke wealth, they may be missing one found in an underwater chest.
This chest can be found on the western coast of the Rygjafylke mainland, and it directly adjacent to a ship icon on the map. Once here, players should use their raven vision to locate its exact location, at which point they should quickly realize it’s under the freezing water. It’s treasures like this that make Assassin’s Creed Valhalla take over 100 hours to 100%.
There are a couple challenges to consider when diving in the freezing waters of Norway, but the big two are trying to avoid hypothermia and suffocation. The good news is that both of these issues can be circumvented so long as the player is quick, so they both provide more of a mental barrier than anything else. The first thing players should do is dive underwater and locate a sunken ship at the bottom.
After locating the ship, players need to approach it and use a melee attack to break open the side of the ship. If worried about oxygen or the cold, now would be a good time to head back up, take a deep breath, and warm up. When ready, dive back into the water and head straight for the opening in the ship. There may be some flotsam and other wreckage blocking the way that needs to be struck, but players should see a chest within the boat. After opening it and claiming the Carbon Ingot upgrade material within, it’s important to try and head back to the surface as quickly as possible, but there should be enough time regardless.
Inside players will find a Carbon Ingot, one of many they’ve obtained so far no doubt. These Carbon Ingots can be given to Gunnar or any other blacksmith in order to upgrade equipment, something players will be doing quite a lot of on their journeys, especially after obtaining powerful items like the Sepulcher Axe.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
