Destiny 2 veterans are no strangers to glitches that allow for unintentionally overpowered plays. There’s a lengthy history of game-breaking bugs in Bungie’s shooter, so it won’t come as much of a shock that, in the wake of the Beyond Light expansion’s launch this week, players have discovered that the Warlock’s new Stasis subclass, the Shadebinder, can pull off an endless super.
It’s only been two days since the expansion introduced icy Darkness-based subclasses to Destiny 2, and already players have found a way to break them to their advantage. As shared by YouTuber Cheese Forever, pulling off the glitch with the Shadebinder’s super is fairly simple, as it requires players to alternate between their heavy and light attacks in time with their Guardian’s animation cues. The trickiest part is getting the timing down, but once they do, players can spam the attacks for far longer than they’re supposed to.
This glitch shouldn’t be too problematic for players tackling PVE, but much like the infinite Dawnblade Warlock super glitch players discovered earlier this year, this has the potential to be a nightmare for other players in PVP. Now that word of the Shadebinder glitch is spreading, though, it shouldn’t take too long for Bungie to become aware of it and start working on a fix.
Such a fix would be welcomed by a lot of fans, because many right now consider Beyond Light’s new abilities game-breaking enough without an actual bug making things worse. A general consensus is starting to form that the Stasis subclasses are ruining the Crucible thanks to incredibly powerful abilities like grenades that can freeze opponents in place and melees that can pull off one-hit kills with basically zero cooldown.
Of course, most of these complaints could potentially be chalked up to players not being used to Stasis. It is the first brand new element type that Bungie has added to Destiny since introducing Arc, Solar, and Void in the original game, after all, so it makes sense that players will need some time to become familiar with it and figure out how to counter it. That being said, longtime Destiny 2 players are used to overpowered weapons and abilities, so the fact that they’re complaining about how unbalanced the Stasis subclasses seem to be is rather telling.
The Shadebinder super glitch isn’t the only bug that’s been found in Beyond Light so far. Yesterday, Bungie announced that it had disabled the Witherhoard exotic grenade launcher after it was discovered that the damaging effect caused by the bubbles of darkness it creates can last even after opponents step out of the bubbles. As of this writing, there is no ETA for when it might be added back into the game.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
