Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Nerfs Sliding | Game Rant

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has released its day one patch notes showcasing several important changes based on fan feedback. The developers were attentive to repairs during the alpha and beta phase of the game, but as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gets closer to launch there are many things the community still wants to see fixed.

Now fans have a clear idea of what has and has not changed since the beta. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s beta was met by fans with mixed receptions, as many streamers publicly stated they would rather play Warzone. From bugs to weapon balancing, it was immediately clear to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War community that some work had to be done before this title released.

Treyarch has released the full day one patch notes and fans noticed a nerf to one major problem from the beta. The developers of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fixed the sliding exploit by reducing the slide’s distance and speed. It did not take long for players to realize that sliding was fast then sprinting in the beta, which resulted in soldiers sliding across the battlefield. This change helps align the slide with its true purpose: to be an escape mechanic.

To help solidify that aggressive sliding does not fall back into the meta, the developer has made firing a weapon at the end of a sprint faster than at the end of a slide. To help players feel like they have not lost momentum, the developers have also increased all in-game mantling speeds.

This fix was necessary, as many Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans were upset at the overpowered mechanic. Many encounters during the beta period met players with battles that were filled with exploited slide usage. Before the fix, the slide offered players extra distance, speed, and recovery, making it easy to close in on an enemy and turn the slide mechanic into an assault tactic.

There are other important changes coming to the game. A plethora of new weapons and attachments will be appearing in the Day One patch alongside an extended list of scorestreaks. Players are sure to see the improvements for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and hopefully these changes will be enough to turn community support back into a positive outlook on this game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to launch on November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
