In the months leading up to the launch of the Xbox Series X, Microsoft partnered with a number of brands in order to promote the release of the console. These brands primarily consist of food brands, restaurant chains, and other similar corporations. Now, it seems Bojangles is getting in on the Xbox Series X action by giving away a customized console and controller.
In the past, Microsoft has partnered with fast food chains like Taco Bell to give consumers a chance of winning a free console and controller. These kinds of promotions are typical when any kind of next-gen hardware gets released and is an easy incentive to get new customers to come to the restaurant’s different branches. However, with the Bojangles promotion, it includes something a bit more special, instead of just a standard retail unit Xbox Series X.
The official Twitter page of Bojangles has released a Tweet saying that just by retweeting the Tweet and following the Twitter page will give users a chance of winning a fully customized Xbox Series X and controller. The console is customized to look like a box of Bojangles fried chicken and the controller’s surface is made to look like a piece of fried chicken. This is extremely reminiscent of the KFC promotion, which included a similar customized controller.
It’s always nice when companies do brand deals like this with video game publishers, especially when the console and controllers are customized like this. When Sony did a PS5 giveaway deal with Burger King, the console prize was just a standard retail unit without any customizations or aesthetic features added to it. Admittedly, there’s nothing exactly wrong with that. A free console is a free console, but the custom nature of the Bojangles console makes it rather novel comparatively.
In any case, it’s surprising that even after the console has launched, Microsoft is still partnering with brands in order to promote the sale of the system. This hasn’t stopped at partnering with brands, considering that Microsoft has also involved celebrities in its pursuit of promoting the Xbox Series X. For example, the company recently sent Snoop Dogg an Xbox Series X fridge.
It will be interesting to see what other brand deals and promotional giveaways will come out of the Series X’s release. What’s strange is that there haven’t been any brand deals involving the Xbox Series S. Practically all of Microsoft’s giveaway deals with other companies have involved the Series X or a customized Series X and controller. It makes one wonder what a Bojangles themed Xbox Series S would look like, for instance.
The Xbox Series X/S are available now.
