The rumor mill has been steadily working to let out tiny bits of news on what the future holds for Disney’s current crown jewel The Mandalorian. Most recent reports had hinted at early confirmation that the show’s third season was already booked for 2021, however, according to Disney themselves those plans are now as real as our undying love for little Baby Yoda.
Caught between rumors that Disney might be working on a Boba Fett spin-off, The Mandalorian’s season 3 is already a guarantee, so it’s become more of an issue of when it will come, especially amid concerns that COVID-19 could have a negative impact on any potential scheduling down the line.
Regardless of that, thanks to a video posted on Disney+’s Slovakian YouTube channel showcasing what the streaming platform has in store for 2021, Mando fans can rest assured that season 3 for The Mandalorian is indeed marked to be planned as available for next year on the platform.
The rest of the video shows snippets of some more content already known to be heading for Disney+ in 2021 or sooner (depending on each local market), like Star Wars: Clone Wars, Stargirl, Raya and the Last Dragon, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wandavision and Loki.
Aside from all of those, over on the Star Wars camp there are still no further leaks on when audiences can expect to get a first glimpse at Obi-Wan Kenobi’s own series starring Ewan McGregor, nor their supposedly planned spin-offs for Rogue One and other characters from The Mandalorian or The Clone Wars, as well as any other projects that might help Disney sway users onto their streaming service with one of media’s hottest assets functioning as some sort of carrot from a galaxy far, far away.
Judging from Jon Favreau’s approach last year, production for The Mandalorian’s season 3 should be expected to get started anytime over the next few weeks, and though this latest piece of news does little to specify exactly when those episodes will hit Disney+, the more likely scenario suggests the series will be established as a fall staple.
