Some Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Players Want Snipers to Be Buffed

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has officially arrived, receiving a mixture of praise and criticism from its players. One specific aspect of the game that some outspoken players would like to see adjusted is the sniper rifles of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, only this time, fans want to see the weapons buffed.

This is a far cry from the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War alpha just a few weeks back, as players were furious by the power of the game’s sniper rifles. Users of the bolt action weapons were dominating lobbies, dropping players instantly with a single bullet regardless of where the shot landed. Thankfully, the developers confirmed that Black Ops Cold War’s snipers were intentionally overpowered, fixing the weapons ahead of the beta and the game’s official release.

With the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War sniper changes going through, all seemed well for some time. With players getting access to the full game, however, more weapon alterations have been requested. This time, players have been asking for sniper rifles to be buffed, with one of the main voices behind the cry for change being Twitch streamer Zephy. The skilled sniper posted a TikTok video explaining what he would like to see done with the weapon class, and his requests are entirely centered upon aim speed.

The clip quickly began to trend online, with the player calling sniping in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer “terrible” due to the slow aiming speeds. For comparison, the streamer showed the time it takes to aim down the slowest sniper in Modern Warfare and the fastest sniper in Black Ops Cold War, with Black Ops Cold War‘s fastest still a good bit behind Modern Warfare‘s slowest.

It will be interesting to see if Treyarch gives into demands regarding the sniper changes, as well as other recent requests such as alterations to Dark Matter challenges. While the studio previously ignored arguments to turn off skill-based matchmaking, Treyarch has been willing to making other changes based on fan requests. This will likely be something the community is split on, however, as quick-scoping is hated by some players and loved by others.

With Black Ops Cold War expected to outperform Modern Warfare, there will soon be plenty more people weighing in on this sniper-related issue. Whether snipers stay slow to aim or see a major buff remains to be seen, but the topic is likely to cause even more debates among the CoD community.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
