Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff has fired the first shot at fellow MCU star Chris Hemsworth and what’s more, she’s done it in song, en francais. In the spoof music video co-written and directed by Mission Impossible co-star Simon Pegg, Pom not only makes fun of Thor’s “teeny tiny hammer”, she takes a swipe at the Falcon calling him “a fat pigeon.”
The song ‘Au revoir Chris Hemsworth’, based on the french yé-yé song Laisse tomber les filles (“Stop messing around with the girls” written by Serge Gainsborough and originally performed by France Gall) also refers to Chris Evans’ infamous Instagram incident and calls The Avengers a “troupe of phallus tips”. Never has so base an insult been delivered so poetically.
Pom’s song is the latest, and so far the classiest, trash talk video released in aid of the second season of AGBO Superhero Fantasy Football League, a charity fantasy sports event set up by Avengers co-director Joe Russo and won by Chris Hemsworth last year. The league will see teams headed up by some of the biggest stars of the MCU compete for a prize pool of over $1,000,000 that will be donated to the chosen charities of the champions with $250,000 donated throughout the season dedicated to Chadwick Boseman’s memory.
The clip, filmed in the glamorous city of Venice, the shooting location of Mission Impossible 7, sees Pom Klementieff as a girl about town living her best life, singing about how she’s going to smack Thor’s bottom. Right towards the end of the clip there’s a cameo by her Mission Impossible co-stars, (Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson) as she declares the superiority of her chosen team. Does this mean Klementieff is about to leave the MCU for the IMF? No, of course not, but the video is great fun for a worthy cause.
