The Snyder Cut Trailer is Back Online, But With a Twist

Back during DC FanDome, Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. teamed up to release a new trailer for Snyder’s version of Justice League. The trailer was very uniquely Snyder’s aesthetic, and it contained many clips, both old and never-before seen of what this new version might look like. Until, that is, it was unceremoniously pulled from the web over a music rights issue. Just as suddenly, however, the trailer is back up, though it’s looking a little different from before.

The first big difference is obvious: it’s in black and white now. Zack Snyder has always been a fan of stark color schemes, and has even suggested that his ideal Justice League would be a black and white Imax release. Whether or not that is currently being considered for the project or is even feasible with the existing costumes and footage is uncertain, but it probably explains why he felt like playing with the idea in at least a trailer.

There are also some new scenes in this version of the trailer, including one of Cyborg, who Snyder has said will be the heart of his version of the movie. Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg, has been in the midst of an ongoing controversy with Warner Bros. alleging harassments and discrimination took place during the filming of Justice League. Fisher’s allegations against studio executives and Joss Whedon in particular have left many to speculate that his role in the film was drastically reduced once Snyder initially left the project, and this may be a chance for Snyder to restore his significance as he originally envisioned it.

All that said, Snyder himself plans to take to his own VERO page to break down this new trailer himself. So those who are heavily invested in the Snyder Cut will likely want to seek that out to hear what it all means from the man himself. For now though, fans can at least enjoy having the trailer back to amp them up for the release of the final version.

Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League will hit HBO Max on September 5, 2021.
