Animal Crossing: New Horizons Video Explains Turkey Day Event

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about to see a lot of new content in the coming months. Nintendo released a video on its official YouTube channel that details the winter update and holiday events coming to New Horizons in November and December.

However, before players start seeing snow on the ground, there’s one more major holiday that players can look forward to. Turkey Day arrives in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on November 26, and Nintendo’s video explains what players can expect from the event.

November is one of the more relaxing months in the Animal Crossing series. Everything Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers in November, like mushroom harvesting and maple leaf collecting, provides a nice way to unwind with a fall backdrop. Though, for players who have been enjoying the laidback atmosphere of fall in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, things around player’s islands might be picking up in the coming weeks. When Turkey Day arrives on November 26, players will want to be prepared for Franklin’s arrival.

Nintendo’s video shows a brief clip of how players can expect Turkey Day to play out. Similar to the Harvest Festival in Animal Crossing: New Leaf on 3DS, it seems players are going to be tasked with helping Franklin put together a massive feast for the island villagers. The clip shows players handing two different colored pumpkins to Franklin as he starts to prepare a dish. Players could grow pumpkins in New Horizons for Halloween, but it seems these new additions to the series will still be useful in November.

If players were diligent with their farming in October, they should have plenty of pumpkins in storage from the Halloween event. Aside from pumpkins, players can expect Franklin to ask players to gather ingredients like fruit, fish, and honeycombs. Franklin is one of two new NPCs added to New Horizons that represent major holidays in the Animal Crossing series. Veterans of the series will immediately recognize Franklin’s droopy eyes and Jingle’s twinkly eyes, but new players can look forward to meeting these lovable NPCs for the first time in New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a blessing for many this year. The relaxing pace of the game continues to serve as an escape from the difficult situations people have experienced throughout 2020. With recent studies from Oxford University confirming that Animal Crossing benefits mental health, players feeling a bit down should make time to hop back in to New Horizons. Hopefully, players can look forward to Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s jolly holiday season.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
