Your PS5 DualSense controller is basically a Dualshock 4 on Steam now

The PS5’s DualSense controller is now on par with the DualShock 4 in terms of Steam support.

Valve has rolled out a new Steam update that brings further support for the DualSense controller functions. The new patch, available in beta at this time, follows last week’s update, which brought preliminary support for the controller.

Once you install the beta client (or after it goes live for everyone), Steam will be able to recognise the DualSense’s LED lights, trackpad, rumble and even its gyro functions, which is great news for players way into flick stick.

You’ll also be able to swipe in multiple directions on the touchpad, which is best used with gyro. Of course, the elephant in the room is the controller’s revolutionary haptic feedback and adaptive trigger engine, which so far have received no official support on PC.

Sony never released official drivers for the DualShock 4, so there’s little chance the platform holder will develop one for the DualSense. We may just need to wait for modders to figure out a way of translating these functions on PC. Even then, games will need to account for that and enable these more advanced features on PC.

For now, you can pretend the DualSense is just a nicer DualShock 4. Head over to Steam for the full change log.
