Among Us Confirms First Wave of Language Support | Game Rant

The immense popularity Among Us has gained this year has given developer InnerSloth plenty of incentive to build upon its 2018 social deception game to a much greater degree than before. Already, it has added a few new features in recent months, such as the ability to vote anonymously in Among Us, and today it confirmed that improved language support is on the way.

As popular as the game has become, most players would agree that Among Us could stand to gain a few more features. To that end, InnerSloth started up an official Among Us Twitter page yesterday to better keep fans up to date with the latest news. Following that up today, it posted a couple of new updates addressing a few questions regarding upcoming content, including new language options.

InnerSloth confirmed that the languages it’s currently working on getting supported include English, French, Italian, German, European and Latin American Spanish, Dutch, Russian, Brazilian and European Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and FIlipino (Bisaya). It then assured fans that Among Us will receive support for additional languages later on.

Another thing it touched upon was Among Us’ upcoming account system, which will make it easier to report and moderate the growing number of hackers and toxic players in the game. It couldn’t say when it will be able to implement the system, but it did stress that accounts are its “highest priority” right now, adding, “We want our space to be welcoming & respectful, so this is our first step in sabotaging the toxicity and hacking.”

While players wait for InnerSloth to add new features, some have been taking matters into their own hands. Just last week, players discovered a fan-made mod that adds proximity chat to Among Us, allowing crewmates and impostors alike to communicate outside of meetings so long as they’re close enough to each other. A feature like this could radically shake up how people play the game, so it’ll be interesting to see if InnerSloth might eventually include something like it as an official option.

In the meantime, the developer has a few big announcements in the coming weeks. With The Game Awards set to take place next month, the developer has begun teasing the reveals it will share at the show, offering the first glimpse at Among Us’ next map in the process. Beyond that, it’s unclear what it might have to show at The Game Awards, but whatever it is will likely excite players more than make them suspicious.

Among Us is available for Mobile and PC.
