Destiny 2: What Are Master and Legend Lost Sectors? | Game Rant

It’s the second week of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, and players are still gearing up to face the expansion’s biggest challenges. With the Deep Stone Crypt Raid still on the horizon, there is much left to experience. One addition that looks to become a regularly done activity is the new Lost Sector difficulties, as the Master and Legend Lost Sectors pop up out of nowhere once players finish the campaign.

This isn’t the first time players had encountered a new difficulty for Lost Sectors. Back in Season of the Worthy, Destiny 2 had also introduced Legendary Lost Sectors, not to be confused with the Legend difficulty available right now. The current model seems to be a refinement of that system and has been received well so far.

Every day, one Master (1280 power level) and one Legend (1250 power level) difficulty Lost Sector is available to players. Beyond Light added Lost Sectors to Europa as well as the Cosmodrome, and all of their Lost Sectors are eligible to become featured for the day. Moreover, the Master and Legend Lost Sector selection is based on a fixed rotating schedule, so players can prepare in advance. The repeating pattern is as follows: Exodus Garden 2A > Veles Labyrinth > Concealed Void > Bunker E15 > Perdition. The Master and Legend schedules are offset too so that they never overlap.

It is worth noting that this is an optional daily challenge, and every Lost Sector can be played normally any time. Players can spot which Lost Sectors are featured in a given day by checking out the map of Cosmodrome and Europa. However, the player’s current character must have done a certain Lost Sector to access its the Master or Legend version.

The most important aspect of this activity is that it is the only way to earn the new Beyond Light exotic armor pieces. Plus, the game specifies which type of armor piece (such as arms or chest) the Lost Sector will reward in the activity tooltip. The armor piece selection is different between the daily Master and Legend Lost Sector, and each difficulty’s exotic armor reward is also on a fixed rotation. The cycle is Chest > Head > Legs > Arms so players can purposefully play specific Lost Sectors on certain days on certain characters to efficiently acquire items for their builds.

The catch is that the exotic armor piece is only rewarded if the activity is completed solo. Players have limited resurrections as well, but defeating Champions nets more of them for the run’s duration. The activity modifiers are strict, and the power level is quite high for this early in the season, but they will be much easier when players acquire enough of a power bonus from their artifacts.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
