Shroud Says He Wouldn’t Care if Twitch Banned Him | Game Rant

One of the most popular video game streamers has become vocal about his opinions on Twitch. Professional streamer and former Counter-Strike pro Shroud has told his viewers that he wouldn’t care if Twitch banned him. The reasoning he gave is somewhat surprising, especially considering his recent statements about one big streamer getting permanently banned from the platform.

Shroud was formerly one of the best Counter-Strike players in the world, and now spends his days streaming a variety of games for fans on Twitch. On a recent stream, Shroud made some comments about Twitch that surprised many of his fans, saying he thinks getting banned “doesn’t mean anything” for streamers. “If I did get banned, would I really care though? Probably not, because getting banned doesn’t really do anything,” he said. “You take a little vacation, and you come back swinging.”

This statement was made regarding the recent news that streamer xQc is suspended from Twitch after he was caught stream sniping in a recent Fall Guys tournament. Shroud referenced the time that “Dr Disrespect got banned for a month for streaming in a bathroom,” saying he came back stronger than ever. Shroud’s stance on xQc seems to be that the suspension won’t hurt the streamer’s fanbase or popularity.

Shroud reinforced his view by saying that “getting banned for a big streamer is a best-case scenario, which basically makes zero sense.” He said if Twitch ended up banning him for any reason, his fans would be there as soon as he returned. After recently taking a short break from streaming, Shroud returned to over 500,000 viewers, which proves that his viewpoint makes some sense.

The professional streamer also mentioned that Twitch “can’t really change the rules of how someone gets banned based off their top streamers, it’s not really fair. I’m just happy they’re keeping it consistent.” This applies to xQc being banned for stream sniping, but also relates to a recent statement that Shroud made regarding Dr Disrespect. Twitch permanently banned Dr Disrespect over the summer and has not released details about the reasoning why. Shroud defended this Twitch ban, saying that Twitch can’t make exceptions just because the offender is a top streamer.

Now that Shroud is back doing gaming streams, complete with facial hair, he got into the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta as well as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Shroud mentioned that he strives to never get banned from Twitch, but it is good to know that the streamer feels he would bounce back better than ever.
